Her Life In Words

So, you wanna know a little bit about Dani?

Let's start it off with the facts:

I am 19 years old currently, turning 20 in the summer of 2015.

I am continually blessed by the people who I call family. There is so few things in the world quite like the Tompkins' clan. I have parents that are incredibly gracious and accepting, and I have 4 beautiful siblings who have grown into some of my best friends. I am truly truly blessed.

I have always been one to be minimal in the friend department, since my very first day of school I could count my friends on my fingers. Today, I am lucky enough to have a handful of people who are truly, genuinely there for me. Friends who make me laugh and friends who can always bring out the ultimate version of myself when I'm with them.

I have a boyfriend of just under 3 years, who is genuinely one of the most incredible people that I know. He has taught me so much about life, love, and true acceptance for oneself and the world around us. He is wonderful and handsome and I am so lucky to have him.

I am currently taking the Early Childhood Education program at my local college. So far so good in that department. Do I love school? Yes. Do I love children? Yes. Do I want to be a preschool teacher for the rest of my life? To be determined. (I'll keep you updated in that department, I'm sure)

I am an appreciator of little things, big things, and lots of things in between. I feel most comfortable behind a camera, though this is not a hobby of mine that I intend to turn into something greater. For now, it's just simply something I love doing.

I enjoy reading; everything from classic literature to modern fiction to autobiographies to inspiring "how to" books. I could spend hours on end in Chapters, and nothing makes me feel better than escaping into a world unlike any I could dream on my own. I currently have 4 purchased books that are waiting for me to dive into. I will also keep you updated on those.

I am a lover of words. The English language is something that I find incredibly beautiful. Both in speech and in written form (it is no secret that I talk more than I probably should). But when it comes to writing, there's just something about putting your thoughts on paper that is so rewarding; I was totally the girl in high school that looked forward to essays.

I appreciate all things Disney, vintage, fashion, tea, and, well, pretty much anything else you think a typical white girl might enjoy. You could probably refer to me as basic, but that's totally okay in my books. There is no denying that the thought of Disneyland brings pure joy to my heart, being in an antique or thrift store can virtually calm me down almost instantly, and drinking a cup of tea on a cold day is literally the most satisfying thing a person could do.

Well, I think that's the basics. If you didn't know me before, now you know the very surface level aspects of my life. Congratulations! I suspect if you continue to read my blog you will become much more aware of the corners of my heart and soul that are not quite on the surface. But for now, all you need to know is that I am a young woman who has almost nothing together but is totally content in how life is treating her so far. I snort when I laugh, I talk way too much, and I probably give Disney a little too much credit, but those are all just part in parcel with the woman behind these words.

Thanks for taking the time to read this, even though it's probably just my grandma who really cares. I appreciate the time that you've taken out of your life, to get to know mine a little bit better. Here's to another avenue on my way to becoming the ultimate white girl.

XO, Dan
